My approach to financial planning was shaped by an unconventional early life and a determination to understand how money works.
I grew up in Bastrop, Texas, and moved out of my home at the age of fourteen due to a challenging home environment. While I was fortunate to find a welcoming foster family, the experience left an indelible impression on me and motivated me to develop a deep understanding of financial security, independence, and long-term planning.
I put myself through college while working for four years at Wal-Mart. During my senior year at Southwest Texas State University, I launched Synergy, an independent financial advisory firm focused on helping individuals and families make informed financial decisions.
I graduated in 2001 with a BBA in Finance. Just one year later, in 2002, I was invited to address advisors at a large financial services firm’s Leaders’ Conference in Hawaii. Since then, I have spoken to clients and financial professionals across the country, sharing strategies designed to help people better understand their financial options and prepare for retirement.
Over the course of my career, I have qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) for 21 years, including 21 years at the Court of the Table level and 17 years at the Top of the Table level.
I have helped hundreds of teachers, police officers, firefighters, military personnel, and federal and municipal professionals better understand and plan around their pension benefits. I have also worked with numerous high-net-worth individuals, including high-profile NFL and MLB professional athletes, helping them properly structure wealth distribution and retirement income strategies.
My primary area of specialization is income distribution planning and helping clients address sequence-of-returns risk—a critical consideration for individuals transitioning from accumulating wealth to relying on that wealth for retirement income.
I believe that many people struggle to retire not because they have failed to save, but because they face fear, uncertainty, and a lack of specific education about how to turn their assets into sustainable retirement income. My goal is to provide the education, strategies, and confidence my clients need to make the transition into retirement comfortably and intentionally.
